Join the U.S. Notification List: This is how we get the word out when we have new livestock. It's extremely important due to the time sensitivity of moth ova and sometimes limited supplies of pupae and ova. Canadian customers please join Canadian List. Canada Sales Page

ATTENTION CANADIAN CUSTOMERS: I've launched moth livestock sales for Canadians! Please check out my CANADA MOTH SALES PAGE or email me if you have questions. Please join the notifications list for Canadian residents.

SALES POLICIES -- MUST READ

If your PayPal account is unverified and you also give us an unconfirmed address, we will not accept your PayPal order.
You will need to correct the problem or send a money order through the mail. (contact)

Due to USDA or USDOT regulations, our insects can only be shipped to jurisdictions where they occur and are approved. Please see state list to determine whether we can ship you the moths you want. Regulations by State BUT, you can apply for receiving permits, which are free and easier to get than shipping permits. If you're approved, you can receive the insects you want from us and we can ship them to you. Apply for permits

The USDA requires all customers purchasing regulated moths to adhere to the following: Organisms may not be distributed or entrusted to other parties, including students, or released outdoors. When finished with them, they must be disposed of by freezing for three days; you can certainly keep them and continue breeding and rearing, but don't release them. Exception: If the moths remain in the state of origin (that would be New York or Ohio -- note return address on shipment), the USDA does not regulate them and customers can do what they want with them.

If you order a specie(s) that we cannot ship to you (regulations are clearly listed below), we will cancel your order less $0.50 to cover the PayPal transaction fee plus our time. We'd rather not do that, so please read and follow the restrictions, or email us with inquiries before ordering. We are prompt to reply.

WARNING: Be attentive to delivery of your orders! Leaving them in sun-exposed mailboxes fries moth eggs and pupae. I enter your tracking number into the PayPal system. Look it up, track your shipment, retrieve livestock promptly upon delivery. If our control groups hatch, there's nothing wrong with the livestock we sent to you.

UPDATE 23June17 - Promethea ova control batches hatched 100%. Promethea ova available. Cecropia ova are taking at least 16 days to hatch. Poly ova are hatching over many days (wait to throw out old eggs). Luna control group hatched 100% at about 13 days. Still struggling but hopeful to get a luna pairing. Poly availability is over. Please check this page often for availability. When available, if you order multiple species, we will refund excess shipping charges, as always. Please join the notification list, as that's how we get the word out when we have new livestock for sale. Spring mating season is ova/egg season, when the amazing metamorphosis cycle resumes again!

I post payment buttons only as specific livestock becomes actually available for purchase. We never do pre-sales, because moths can't guarantee that they will produce. (But it's rare that they fail us.)

PayPal charges shipping for each species ordered, but we charge shipping per order and reimburse shipping overpayments.

SAFEGUARDING OVA & CATERPILLARS Whether or not you're a novice, be sure to read Rearing Caterpillars. Keep your livestock indoors and out of direct sunlight. Maintain proper humidification by keeping your containers sealed. Do not mix plant matter with ova. There must be no water or condensation inside livestock containers; use capped floral tubes to water your food-leaves with. Don't let tubes leak.

WINTERING PUPAE Room temperature until 31 October, then put in plastic bag, then into a sealed (Ziploc type) container (no airholes) and put in the fridge (not freezer!). Or (my way), put in a Ziploc freezer bag and then into crisper in fridge. Emphasize: no airholes! In fact, I put them in the fridge as soon as we start running the furnace. And, if we're using air conditioning, I seal them up in a freezer bag or snap-lid plastic container. No fridge, though, till after October.

Livestock for sale: If you wish to purchase Saturniidae livestock, various species, please join our notification list today. We will have ova and cocoons of several species (prices and availability listed below) available in season.

Univoltine vs. Bivoltine/Multivoltine: Some saturniidae moth species are univoltine (a single brood per year) and some are bi/multi-voltine (two or more broods). For those that are bi-/multi-voltine, we will sometimes be able to make ova available more than once during a summer season. Likewise, we will sometimes offer summer cocoons; moths will eclose during current summer, and produce another generation. (All saturniidae species are univoltine roughly north of the Mason-Dixon Line due to the short summer season.)
